Teaching Statement

I believe in a student-centered approach to teaching all students--no matter their age or the subject matter.  Students have so much creativity and knowledge to share, and I see my job as helping them to bring out what is already inside of them.

I share with my students my love of the performing arts and my fascination and love of language.  Giving learners the opportunity to take charge of their own learning is at the center of what I do in all of my classes.  I strive to get to know my students so that I can embrace their humanity and help them to be successful and empowered.

I have dedicated my career to empowering children and adults to be their best and most authentic selves.  In service of this goal, I work in a culturally responsive and anti-racist framework.

Here are some examples of my teaching in action!
